Challenge Timeline.
The confirmed schedule for the Lagos Cleaner Energy Schools Innovation Challenge. Registration and proposal submission have been extended and now run through 17 July 2026, 4:00 p.m.
Registration Opens
The registration portal opens for public secondary school and technical college teams. Teams of five SS1/SS2 students select their technical track and submit initial details.
Registration Closes
Final date for team registration, extended from the original date to give more schools the chance to take part. No late entries will be accepted after this date. School coordinators must have activated accounts before this date.
Official Launch
The official public launch of the challenge. The date and venue will be communicated by Lagos State MEMR.
Proposal Submission Opens
The portal opens for registered teams to submit their concept briefs and prototype schematics. The Innovator's Handbook and all judging resources are released on this date.
Submission Deadline
Final date for all concept briefs, schematics, and supporting materials, extended from the original date. Teams must also ensure the principal-signed Safety Compliance Checklist has been uploaded by this date.
Development, Monitoring & Evaluation Period
A four-week period of project development, monitoring, and evaluation. The multi-agency panel reviews all eligible submissions anonymously by Team ID, and teams are notified of their status by email.
District Finals
Top-scoring teams from each district present their proposals before a live judging panel. Venues and logistics will be communicated to qualifying teams directly.
Grand Finale
The highest-scoring teams from the district finals compete in the Lagos State grand finale. The event is open to the public and will be attended by Lagos State government officials.
