Terms of Use

Effective from the date of registration opening, 2026

1. Acceptance

By registering a team for LCESIC 2026, the Teacher Mentor confirms that they have read and accept these Terms on behalf of the team, the school, and themselves. Participation constitutes acceptance.

2. Eligibility

  • Teams must consist of exactly 5 students enrolled in SS1 or SS2 at the same school at the time of submission. SS3 students are not eligible.
  • Public secondary schools must be located in Lagos State Education Districts I, II, or III. State technical colleges participate state-wide.
  • Public schools must be listed under the relevant district, or be a recognised Lagos State technical college. Private schools must appear on the MBSE OEQA approved whitelist.
  • Each team must have one registered Teacher Mentor and one District Coordinator.
  • The principal must sign the Safety Compliance Checklist before submission is accepted.

3. Submissions

  • Each team may submit one proposal only, in one track.
  • The concept brief must not exceed 500 words.
  • Schematic files must be in PDF, PNG, or JPEG format and must not exceed 2.5 MB.
  • Each team may revise its submitted proposal once before the submission deadline. Submissions cannot be edited after the deadline or after a team has used its one revision.
  • The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any submission that contains plagiarism, fabricated data, or content that violates applicable law.

4. Intellectual Property

Teams retain ownership of their submitted ideas and prototype designs. By submitting, teams grant MEMR and LCESIC a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce, publish, and display the proposal for educational and promotional purposes related to the challenge.

5. Conduct

All participants must conduct themselves with integrity at all times. Any attempt to falsify eligibility, impersonate another team, or interfere with the evaluation process will result in immediate disqualification. The organisers' decision on all conduct matters is final.

6. Evaluation

Proposals are evaluated anonymously. Evaluators are not shown school names or identifying information during scoring. Results are determined by the aggregate score across the 100-point rubric. The organisers reserve the right to adjust the evaluation process if required by unforeseen circumstances.

7. Limitation of Liability

The organisers make no warranty as to the availability of this portal at all times. MEMR and Suwebatu are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from participation in the challenge or use of this portal.

8. Changes

These terms may be updated to reflect changes in the challenge format. Registered teams will be notified by email of any material changes.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria and the State of Lagos. Any dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Lagos State courts.
