The Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) convened a cleaner energy stakeholder summit to mark the lead-up to the inaugural Lagos Cleaner Energy Schools Innovation Challenge (LCESIC) 2026. The gathering brought together ministry engineers, secondary school educators, Education District officials, university faculty, and clean energy industry partners.

Discussions centred on the design of the challenge - its four technical tracks, the evaluation rubric, and the support structures that will guide student teams from registration through to the state championship. Stakeholders reviewed how schools across Education Districts I, II, and III, including the State's technical colleges, will participate in the pilot phase.

The summit underscored the Ministry's view of LCESIC as more than a competition: a pipeline for identifying and investing in the next generation of Nigerian energy engineers, innovators, and entrepreneurs, and a channel for directing young talent toward Lagos's most pressing energy access challenges.

Further announcements, including the official registration and submission dates, will be issued through the Ministry's channels and at lcesic.ng in the coming weeks. A selection of photographs from the summit is available in the gallery.
